Willa Jane Barlowe was born Delilah Marie Sonder in May of 1997. She lived a happy life with loving parents for a solid four years before everything was snatched away from her; before she was snatched away. She was raised to be respectful of adults. She had always been told they could be trusted; that they should be trusted. She didn't know that only applied to the people in her family. This left her vulnerable.She didn't know people could be monsters too.On her fifth birthday, Willa's parents brought her to her favorite place: the local botanical gardens. She had always had an obsession with flowers; grabbing every single one she would pass until her pockets were full. Sunflowers were her absolute favorite. Unfortunately, she had only ever seen them in pictures or in movies. So when a stranger approached her at the gardens with a sunflower in his hand, she quickly found herself blinded by her own excitement. Adults are supposed to be trusted, right?Harrison Barlowe had a tragic life of his own. His wife and daughter had been the victims of a burglary gone wrong. He blamed himself for their deaths. Had he been home instead of out practicing his new hobby, he could have saved them. The loss of his family impacted him more than he would like to admit. He tried to convince himself that the killing was some sort of vigilante justice; that he wanted to find and punish the men who had slaughtered his family. Not when she was thoroughly convinced that he was her father.As the years went on, her involvement in his activities became more relevant as he began to assign her more important tasks. She learned how to clean up after him as he was too tired to do it himself. He trained her for months, using watermelons as an example for the gore she would be scrubbing away and forcing her to listen to women screaming for hours on end in an attempt to make her numb.Harrison brought Willa to all of the "seminars" and meetings held by his colleagues. It was there that she got a good look at the inner workings of the operation her father was a part of ( and learned how much she hated it ).He wanted to flaunt her to his colleagues.Unfortunately, she never met his expectations. He didn't hesitate to let her know how much of a failure she was because of how emotional and empathetic she was. She was constantly compared to the children of his colleagues with questions such as why can't you be more like [ ... ] The more he insulted and belittled her, the higher the wall she had started constructing around herself became.This would lead to her demise.
Fed up with how useless Willa was in his eyes, Harrison decided it was time to get rid of her entirely. After meeting with one of his connections in the black market, singing praises of all the things she had done for him for the past twenty years, ( If only he had talked so highly of her when it truly mattered ) , he found someone willing to take her off his hands ... a man named devin pierce.
